The Flowing Wells/Arizona Teaching Fellows is a unique program offered through a partnership between the University of Arizona and Flowing Wells. Students in the program work closely with the Flowing Wells School District throughout their teacher preparation program, completing all of the fieldwork in our District with one or more mentor teachers who are also dedicated to working with children and adolescents in Southern Arizona.

How do you become an Arizona Teaching
Fellow?
Are you a high school graduate?
1. First step is to apply to the University of Arizona via the
Undergraduate Admissions application.
2. Then, you will need to apply to the teacher preparation program of your choice in the spring of your sophomore year, by the 2nd Friday in February, for fall admission. For more information about the process and required documents, please see
here.
3. Last, you will need to apply in the spring of your sophomore year to the Teaching Fellows program, selecting your first and second district of your choice.
Are you a community college student?
1. First step is to meet with a
UA College of Education advisor. Once ideal term of admittance is
determined, you will apply to the University of Arizona via the
Transfer Admissions application.
2. Then, you will need to apply to the teacher prep program of your choice (typically in the spring
of your sophomore year if you are full-time, by the 2nd Friday in February). For more

3. Last, you will need to apply by 2/23/18 to the Teaching Fellows program, selecting your first and
second district of your choice. Application will open on February 1, 2018 and can be accessed
here.
Are you a college graduate looking to teach Special Education K-12?
1. Review the Special Education Master of Arts Mild-Moderate Disabilities Program
information.
2. Contact Dr. Carl Liaupsin, Program Director, (
liaupsin@email.arizona.edu) to arrange an
interview and information session.
3. After your interview and information session, you should apply to the
Special EducationMaster of Arts Mild-Moderate Disabilities Program through the
UA Graduate College
site. Preference given to students applying for 2018-19 academic year admittance by 1/31/18
and applications will continue to be accepted until filled.
4. Last, apply by 2/23/18 to the Teaching Fellows program. Application will open on February 1,
2018 and can be accessed here.
Are you a college graduate looking to teach Secondary Education (grades 6-12)?
1. Review Teach Arizona program information at:
www.teach.arizona.edu
2. Contact Teach Arizona Director, Patty Stowers (
pstowers@email.arizona.edu). Indicate the
content area you hope to teach, and please attach scans of your unofficial transcripts for review.
3. Then, apply to the University of Arizona via the
Graduate College application, and select the
Master of Arts in Secondary Education,
Teach Arizona Program. Preference given to students
applying for 2018-19 academic year admittance by 1/31/18 and applications will continue to be
accepted until filled.
Are you a college graduate looking to teach in Elementary (grades K-8)?
1. Contact a College of Education Advisor based on your last name. Your advisor will assist you with
exploring the Post-baccalaureate Elementary Education program.
2. Then you will need to apply to the Elementary Education program for the upcoming fall
semester.
Once you are ADMITTED to a teacher preparation program AND YOU APPLY to the Teaching
Fellows Program, the districts will interview interested applicants and will select the Fellows for
their districts.

As a FW Teaching Fellow, you will:
1. Receive financial support
2. Work closely with and complete all fieldwork in the Flowing Wells School District with several mentor teachers
3. Potentially be hired by the Flowing Wells District
4. Participate in forums designed to link coursework expectations more closely with school and district expectations
