Community Education
The Flowing Wells Community Schools Department supports life-long learning and access to tools that create a thriving community. Through youth enrichment opportunities, young people can learn and develop outside of school time. Services range from early childhood programs and childcare to academic and extracurricular opportunities across the district. These unique programs support student interests and aspirations outside the traditional school day and throughout the summer. Please explore the services and programs available.
Tuition Based Preschool
Student Enrichment Program (STEP) is a program for district employees. Flowing Wells School District has a child care program for district employees, who have children or grandchildren who are three to five years old. This program is tuition based and has limited enrollment. This program is open from 7:15 am - 4:15 pm, Monday through Friday.
The Emily Meschter Early Learning Center’s calendar coincides with the Flowing Wells School District Elementary calendar.
Youth Enrichment Services
The Community Schools Y.E.S. Program, offers a well-planned and supervised format for children in kindergarten through sixth grade, ages 5 – 12 years old. We arrange fun filled activities that will excite and stimulate your child, in addition to fostering social, physical, and critical thinking skills. The professionally trained staff plans and conducts unique activities to help children build self-esteem and expand their knowledge and experiences. Children will also participate in a variety of discovery projects through science, technology, engineering and math.
Summer Programs
The Community Schools Summer Y.E.S. Program, offers a full day of fun and enrichment. Students will have opportunities to develop new skills and interests. Activities offered range from Art, Rocketry, Science, Robotics, Cooking, Escape Rooms, Crafts, Infento and so much more. Please check for registration materials.
Grant Funded Programs
The Nita M. Lowey 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC) – Title IV Part B initiative is the only federally funded program dedicated exclusively to out-of-school-time learning. It provides funding for afterschool, before-school, and summer programs to support students, particularly those from low-performing schools, in meeting challenging academic standards.
Key Objectives:
Academic Enrichment: Provides tutoring and educational support to help students succeed.
Expanded Learning Opportunities: Offers diverse programs such as STEM, arts, health education, career readiness, and more to complement regular academics.
Family Engagement: Encourages parental involvement through literacy and education development opportunities.
Each elementary school offers free afterschool 21st CCLC programs, Monday – Thursday. Brochures are available in the front office.
