FW Safe & Strong Return to School

Health and Safety. Choices for Families.
Updated July 14, 2020

GOVERNOR DUCEY, IN HIS EXECUTIVE ORDER OF JUNE 29, 2020, IS REQUIRING THAT THE START OF SCHOOL WITH STUDENTS ATTENDING IN PERSON BE DELAYED TO AUGUST 17TH.  DISTRICTS ARE ALLOWED TO START REMOTE OR ONLINE LEARNING BASED ON THE DISTRICT'S ADOPTED CALENDAR.  This is a fluid situation and the Governor has stated that he will continue to monitor and evaluate this date.

All Flowing Wells K-12 schools will start the school year on Thursday, August 6th. To start the school year, all Flowing Wells students must choose between two options for DISTANCE LEARNING (please see below).

Flowing Wells COVID-19 Planning Committee

The Flowing Wells Unified School District has established the FW Return to School committee of teachers, staff, principals, and district administrators to consider guidance from county and state health officials and feedback from parents and families to develop a Safe and Strong Return to School plan.

As the Committee plans for the 2020-2021 school year, their work is:

•   Focused on safety and on providing families a choice for their student's education

•   Based
on guidance from the Arizona Department of Education, local public health authorities, Centers for Disease Control (CDC), and the input of FW families and employees

•   Inspired by the District's core values: Students, Integrity, Quality, Balance and Opportunity

The Flowing Wells School District works hard to build meaningful relationships with our students and their families. We want nothing more than to welcome students back to a supportive learning environment that focuses on their social, emotional, and academic needs. We know that students miss their teachers and friends, and we miss our students!

Flowing Wells plans to provide students with the best possible educational experience possible.  Please read below for important information for parents and families:

Return to School

All Flowing Wells K-12 schools will start the school year on Thursday, August 6th. To start the school year, all Flowing Wells students must choose between two options for DISTANCE LEARNING (please see below).

Based on the Governor's Executive Order, it is the District’s intent to begin Classroom Learning the week of August 17, 2020.
This continues to be a fluid situation and public health restrictions at that time may alter the District’s plans or prevent the District from opening in-person. The FW Committee is outlining contingency plans in order to adjust quickly based upon the most up-to-date information from health, state, and national authorities.

FW is committed to providing families with choices to make the best decision for their child.
Flowing Wells recognizes that these are unprecedented times and each student and family has different needs. The District also recognizes that parents have a choice when it comes to education, and although most Flowing Wells parents we have surveyed would like their child to return to school in-person, we recognize the need to provide options for both classroom learning and online learning.

FW is planning to utilize three high-quality learning models in the 2020-2021 school year to provide options for students and families:

Families are asked to view the highlights of the two Distance Learning options below.  Families will receive a survey during the week of July 20 in which they will indicate their final decision between the two distance learning options to start the school year.

FAMILIES MUST CHOOSE BETWEEN THE FOLLOWING TWO DISTANCE LEARNING OPTIONS TO START THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR:
